Winter Break

carvermccaskill
For the past month I have been living in my hometown Effingham Il. A rural, quiet community in the corn fields of the midwest. While is been nice to visit friends and family, I have also been working on my painting and techniques. Additionally, I have purchased some large canvases (30"x30") that I'm excited to start working on. I also successfully paid my taxes so I can finally stop losing sleep over that. As we move into the new year I have lots of exciting goals and plans I want to share with you all.

Let's just cut to the exciting part! I figured out some new skills with the acrylic pours. You can Check out the flowers I made along with some other interesting paintings. Once again by scrolling TikTok I found so many cool things that people have done. How I made the flowers was by using a straw to blow air over the paint to make pedals. Soooo happy with the final result! I really want to make acrylic pouring my main focus and so far its been great. I want to have at least 10 of these flowers done in time to start selling on campus.

Red Blossom (New Technique!)

In addition to selling on campus I want to get involved with some local art shows. I've mentioned my desire to do this in previous posts and I think 2023 is the perfect year to do so. As of now i need to apply to the upcoming shows in a few months and make sure I have enough inventory to display. Finally, I'd love to have a masterpiece to display whenever I sell (thats my plan for that 30x30 canvas).

As mentioned above I paid my taxes (which was really confusing even with my basic numbers), I did them online so everything should be good but I'm going to check in with some nice people at the ENT center on campus just to double check. Also!! I renewed one of my certificates without going through a "service" that costs $400 and is late and make me rip my hair out, turns out its FREE! You can just print a new one... crazy.

With all that said I am half way to reaching my goal, have met some really cool people, and my skills have really grown. I am so proud of myself for taking the dive into this, dealing with all the headache and I'm looking forward to another successful year.

As always thank you all for your support it means a great deal!
